A collar is used to restrain and/or identify a dog. It connects to the leash. There are different styles for different uses. Find what suits you and your pet best.
A line or rope used to walk or control a dog. It connects to a collar. The leash is the steering wheel to your dog. Leashes come in a wide variety but a simple 4-6 foot nylon leash is just fine.
A dog crate is a metal, plastic, or wire enclosure with a door. Your pet is kept here for security, training and/or transportation purposes. This is NOT doggy jail! All living beings require personal space.....even your dog.
A dog's gotta eat and drink! Stainless steel is easy to clean and durable.
Get toys and products like cow hooves or Kong toys for your pet to chew on so they do not damage your belongings, furniture and home.
Common Dog Vaccinations
Flea medication is a must-have to prevent tape worms and to prevent itchy skin. Some dogs are even allergic to flea bites making them succeptible to other skin issues.
Heart worm medication is also a must-have. Heartworms come from mosquitoes and without proper treatment can strangle the heart, resulting in a shorter life span for your dog. Heartworm medication also protects your pet from some intestinal parasites. You can get this product from your Veterinarian.
We highly recommend Allied Animal Healthcare in Riverdale, GA for all your veterinary needs. Get your pet vaccinated ASAP!
Parvo is a potentially fatal disease that is easily passed to non-vaccinated pets as well as puppies and elderly pets. Petcare Service Providers like groomers and boarders and trainers usually require proof of vaccinations to help you, so vaccinating your pet is a must-do!!
Regular grooming is needed for your dog to maintain healthy skin and coat. Not to mention, a newly groomed pet smells and looks amazing! We can get grooming done while your dog is here for its stay. Call and make an appointment today! Spaces fill quickly.
Giving your pet a supplement or multi-vitamin is a great way to care for your dog in between vet visits. A good multi-vitamin can fill in nutritional gaps, help with joint health, and help boost your pets immune system. We use NuVet Wafers in-house and highly recommend NuVet Wafers and NuVet products. First thing in the morning, take poochie outside to relieve itself. As soon as your dog wakes up from a
nap immediately take it outside. After your pet eats or drinks, take it outside. Before bed, take it outside. In other words, give your dog lots of opportunities to "go potty" so they do not do it on the inside of your home.
Dogs have to chew...they just have to! Chewing releases energy in a way that is difficult for us humans to understand but just know that it is beneficial to your buddy and YOU. If you like your couch and your wall and your shoes, PROVIDE CHEW TOYS for your best bud. Never give puppies or dogs raw hides, they
can become impacted.
Walk and run your dog regularly. Many behavior issues begin with a lack of physical and mental exercise. Find an activity you and your dog enjoy (like playing fetch or swimming).
Never use retractable dog
leashes. Theyʼre hard to use for
training and may break easily.
It is crucial to socialize
your dog. Get your pooch around other dogs, different people, various environments. The more your dog is exposed, the more confident they become.
Neutering and spaying your dog
is mandatory. Dogs DO NOT need to have sex or produce puppies to be fulfilled in life. Un-spayed females and un-neutered males both come with their own set of challenges and considerations.
Some dogs have skin issues and require
regular baths with medicated
shampoos. Other dogs have a double coat which sheds and has to be removed to prevent your home from becoming a furry mess. Long haired breeds have to be groomed regularly to prevent matting. It is your responsibility to upkeep your dogs health and appearance.
Trim your dogs nails regularly to
prevent dewclaws curling-into the paw pad and
injuring your dog.
Create a routine that
suits you and your dog and stick to it. It's not so much the specific time of day in which you create routine as much as it is the sequence in which you do it. Put simply......
Create a sequence of events for your dog to follow AND stick to it!!
To correctly use a collar
move the collar high up on the
dogs neck. Right behind the
ears. You may have to adjust for a correct fit. You may have to buy at least two collars in your dogs lifetime, one for while itʼs a puppy and another for when itʼs bigger.
